What's here?

Lists of locomotives, steam, electric, and diesel, domestic and foreign, by over 60 builders so far, listing models, original owners, builder numbers, order numbers, quantity, and dates built. Also here are some 1800+ all-time individual railroad rosters. These are in a one unit per line format, listing the road number, model, builder number, and previous/subsequent road numbers with dates of renumberings, rebuildings, and dispositions.

Why can't I access any information?

This is a contributor based site. Locomotive data past the index pages is available to members only. 404 "page not found" errors mean you have attempted to access a page before logging on. Access is granted to everyone who contributes information. If your name is on the contributor list, you should have access to the complete site. If not, or if you have not recieved e-mail containing your password, e-mail me and I'll get you set up.

How do I get access to the site?

Contribute information. Check the "wanted list" or respond to requests for information posted in various newsgroups and lists. We are in need of more than what's on the wanted list, but this will keep the list short. It changes from time to time (as answers get sent in or they grow stale), so check back. Or if your interest is in certain areas or roads, e-mail me, and I can compile a wanted list tailored for your interests. Help in non-US builders and railroads would be greatly appreciated. NOTE! Unsolicited contributions or information taken from other websites will not be accepted.
